Who is Suriana?
Suriana stands for "suara rintikihan kanak-kanak",
which translates to "cries of the children".
From the start, we asked ourselves:
Why focus on housing a few children and women when we could go to the heart of troubled communities,
educate to eradicate poverty, and empower many to break the poverty cycle?
Educate
Access to Quality Education
To ensure the children and their parents in the B40 communities have access to quality education resources by establishing learning centres equipped with modern technology. By way of curriculum development, we develop and implement a curriculum that addresses the unique needs of the communities by focusing on practical skills and knowledge that can directly impact the individual and the community. The centres are operated with trained teachers to better support the students, ensuring a high hold of education.
Elevate
Poverty Alleviation
Through education initiatives, we address the root causes of poverty by equipping individuals the skills and knowledge that can increase their employability and economic stability.
Eradicate
Empowerment through Knowledge
Our initiatives aim to elevate an entire community by creating a ripple effect of positive change. As children and adults succeed, they contribute to the overall betterment of their community.
Vision
Community Transformation Through Education
Goal
Mission
Through education we will empower children and families to elevate their livelihood, building their self-esteem and equipping them to eradicate the poverty mindset.
To empower the community to improve their living conditions, increase their standard of living, eradicate poverty and provide children with hope for the future. We strive for a community free from exploitation and poverty, where children can grow and develop in a secure environment.
We are changing bit by bit, family by family and child by child ever since we set foot into the heart of these urban poor communities 12 years ago.
